The Hospital community came together to mark the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy.
The Master, Revd. Canon Andrew Sage SSC celebrated a Mass for Peace in Holy Cross Chapel on Wednesday 5th June. After the service the Brothers, Sisters and members of the Staff Team, retired to the Ebor Hall for a super afternoon tea with “Churchill”.
The commemorations continued throughout the rest of the week and weekend with an opportunity to follow our Legacy of Light Prayer Pathway in the Chapel. The Prayer Pathway was specially commissioned to facilitate a time of reflection and prayer for all.
The route of remembrance is linked to those who had served on the Home Front and in the Armed Forces.
The national Legacy of Light for the D-Day Commemorations is an initiative of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
The events for the hospital community culminate with the Mass for Peace on Sunday 9th June.
