Coffee, Sunshine and Song

– 26th June 2025

This week saw the perfect blend of coffee, companionship, and the joy of music, all in support of nurturing young people.

A group of enthusiastic pupils from St Helen’s Church of England Primary School, aged 9 to 11, visited the Hospital for their very first concert. Under the guidance of their teacher, Miss Charlotte McCamley, 24 children shared their love of singing with our regular Thursday Coffee Morning residents and visitors, performing a lively programme of songs and musical favourites

The visit was part of a “learning beyond the classroom” experience, with the children keen to say thank you for the support the school has received from the Archbishop Holgate Education Foundation. Following their performance, the pupils spent time chatting with residents and visitors before exploring the rich history of the Almshouses and their founder, Archbishop Robert Holgate.

It was a joyful occasion for all involved, with many commenting on how uplifting the music was and how much they enjoyed welcoming the children. Both pupils, residents, staff, trustees and visitors agreed it had been a truly wonderful experience
