Our Vacancies

Almshouses are a distinctive form of community housing for older people. They combine affordable accommodation with a sense of tradition, independence, and belonging, making them a unique and valued part of community life in the UK.

For more than 450 years, Archbishop Holgate’s Hospital has been serving its local community by providing older, vulnerable people with safe, comfortable residences within a supportive Christian environment.

Below you will find details and information of our current vacancies for accommodation, staff, trustees and volunteers:

Current Accommodation Vacancies

Our Brothers and Sister enjoy the independence of affordable living within a supportive community, just moments from local shops, and public transport. Our beautiful, spacious grounds are open for everyone to relax in, and individual allotment areas are available for those who would like to grow their own vegetables.

We currently have one of the 24 one-bedroom almshouse cottages available. This cottage is suitable for an older single resident (over 60 years). This accommodation comprises a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom with shower. The cottage is unfurnished and there is a weekly maintenance charge. No pets are allowed
To live at the almshouse cottage, applicants must meet the charity’s objectives to house older people (60+), who are in need, who live in the area of benefit.

If you are unsure if you meet the eligibility criteria, would like to visit, and get more information, please contact us
