    Our service in Holy Cross Chapel for this Maundy Thursday Mass at 4pm with foot washing, reception of Holy Oils, stripping of altar 5.00pm watch until 6.00pm. The Name Maundy comes from the Latin word 'mandare'

  • Good Friday ( The Passion of Our Lord, Holy Friday)

    Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord. Our service in line with the majority of the anglo catholic tradition, is held in the afternoon—the time when Jesus was crucified on the cross. We meet in silence in Holy Cross Chapel at 4pm

  • Holy Saturday (Holy Saturday’ or ‘Easter Eve’)

    Holy Saturday is the day between Good Friday and Easter Day. It is a continuation of the sorrow of Good Friday, when Christians of all traditions remember the disciples’ hopelessness in the wake of Jesus’s death on the cross; when they are unsure whether to believe that he will rise from the dead, as he said he would.Many churches mark this day with an Easter Vigil after sunset on Holy Saturday, or sometimes early in the morning of Easter Day, with the lighting of candles representing the light of Christ.

    Today at 12 noon the Regina Caeli will be rung at The Chapel of the Holy Cross and following this the Hospital will fall as the community observes a two-minute national silence to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day).

  • VE DAY Vigil Mass for Peace

    This afternoon the community at Archbishop Holgate Hospital will come together in the Chapel of the HolyCross for a vigil mass on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe VE Day.

    Mr Stuart Nicholson, the Porter, will raise the VE Day 80 Flag as Canon Andrew Sage, The Master of Archbishop Holgate Hospital reads the VE Day 80 Proclamation as part of the national VE Day 80 Flag Ceremony - Together We Stand commemorations.
