“Thank You” for all your support
On Monday 4th August a group of seventeen young people, aged 11–18, from the Wakefield Episcopal Area joined over 300 young Christians for a week of worship, prayer, fun, and camping at Walsingham.
The journey began with a few challenges—after a breakdown at King’s Lynn and pitching tents in heavy rain and wind (with a few broken tent poles along the way!), the group’s resilience was quickly put to the test. Despite the rough start, the young people embraced the experience and went on to have a wonderful week together.
The theme of the pilgrimage was The Creed, with teaching and talks led by Bishop Rowan Williams, Rachel Gardner, and a number of other bishops, who all spoke with clarity and conviction. Each day included Bible studies and Mass, along with special moments such as:
• a first visit to the Holy House
• Benediction in the Shrine Gardens
• a Rosary Procession of Our Lady of Walsingham, from the Abbey grounds through the village
Although the week began with difficulties, the pilgrims’ spirits were high, and many expressed their eagerness to return next year.
🙏 The young people sent a heartfelt thank you card for your generous support—without it, this transformative week of faith, fellowship, and fun would not have been possible.
