Enabling young people to access unique opportunities with lifelong benefits
Apprenticeships are becoming an increasingly important pathway for young people—offering a valuable blend of academic learning and hands-on experience in the workplace. These vocational routes are growing and diversifying, opening doors to careers in fields such as law, medicine, business, engineering, digital technology, and many more.
Thanks to the original will of Archbishop Robert Holgate—founder of the Almshouses and the Educational Foundation—we are able to support young people undertaking Apprenticeship courses by offering a one-off grant of £1,000. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled on an approved apprenticeship and reside within the Foundation’s area of benefit.
Each year, we receive stories and updates from our grant recipients. Their reflections show just how meaningful this support has been—not only in helping with course-related costs, but in boosting their confidence and commitment as they take their next steps toward professional life.
