Grants for Students on Apprenticeship Courses

The Trustees of the Education Foundation of Archbishop Holgate invite annual applications for Apprenticeship Award.  These awards are designed to assist students struggling with upfront costs associated with apprenticeship courses. Examples of upfront costs include, workwear, travel costs, health and safety equipment, construction materials etc.

 

Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of £1,000.  It is important in your application that you include why this award is necessary and how it will benefit your ability to pursue your apprenticeship.

 

In order to qualify for this award you must provide evidence of:

 

  • enrollment onto an apprenticeship course for the current academic year.

 

  • resident in the area of benefit of the Trust covering the following parishes: Ackworth, Badsworth, Havercroft with Cold Hiendley, Hemsworth, Nostel (incorporating Hessle and Hill Top, Huntswick with Foulby and West Hardwick) Ryhill, South Elmsall, South Hiendley, South Kirkby and Moorthorpe, Thorpe Audlin, Upton and North Elmsall and Wintersett, all in the County of West Yorkshire, and Brierley, Hampole and Skelbrooke, and Shafton and the township of Cudworth in the County of South Yorkshire.   • you have been eligibile for Free School Meals or a 16 to 19 Bursary Fund.

 

 

Grants to students will be awarded from The Education Foundation of Archbishop Holgate. The Education Foundation is a registered charity governed by the rules laid down by the Charity Commission.

 

How to Apply

In order to apply for the Apprenticeship Award you should complete the downloadable application form and write a letter of application.  Please bear in mind that the information you give is the only information we will have to help us decide who should receive the grant(s). We need to know your personal details, qualifications and the course you intend to follow in your chosen career, and how you think you will use the award.  Please also include any additional information which you think may be applicable; for example your interests, any clubs you belong to, any voluntary work you may do or part time jobs that you have held which has contributed to your career pathway.  As Trustees we would like to know as much about you as possible, so please use further paper if you require any additional space up to a maximum of one side of A4 paper.  It would also be useful if you could include details of your future career aspirations in your letter of application.

 

All applications will be considered by the Trustees, if you are short-listed you may be invited to be interviewed by the Trustees, at Archbishop Holgate Hospital in Hemsworth. Your Personal Tutor or employer must also provide a written statement in support of your application.

 

Successful applicants will be notified of their award, subject to them having gained acceptance onto an apprenticeship course. On receipt of a copy of the official confirmation of enrolment on the course the Award monies will be transferred to your bank account.

Applications can be submitted at any point in the year for the one off Grant for Students on Apprenticeship Courses.
